Baby Shower Planning

A baby shower is a party where guests give presents to the Mum-to-be.

They have been a tradition in the US for a long time and are now growing in popularity in this country.

The event should be organised by family or friends. This keeps the Mum-to-be stress free while someone else does the organising.

The best time for a shower is in the last trimester. If the Mum-to-be knows about the shower, ask her who she wants to invite. Baby showers are usually ‘girly’ events.

Everyone should try to contribute by bringing some party food etc. Fruit drinks or non-alcoholic punch should be served.

Games themed around babies are usually played. Some games are:

Baby Guests – Each guest brings an old photograph and the others have to guess who it is.
Baby Food Game – Guess the baby food blindfolded.
How Many Baby Items – Write a many baby items in a set time. The one with the most is the winner.
Guess the Nappy Pins – Pass around a jar full of nappy/safety pins. The one who guesses closest to the number of pins is the winner.

A small gift should be given to the winner of each game.

The Nappy Cake should be placed as a centrepiece on the party table or brought out with the other gifts as a surprise.
